If you want to truly experience Hawaii at its best, rent Mika Kai! The setting is tropical and beautiful! You wake up to the gentle chirping of the doves and sound of the waves and at night you can hear the pretty sounds of the Coqui frogs. Mika Kai is an epic spot for whale watching. The location puts you near Hilo and the Volcano Park. Both are within an hour’s drive. The kitchen is beautiful, with modern appliances, and is equipped with every need you may have. Extra beach towels are folded in a basket for your swimming needs. The pool overlooks the ocean and is sensational.

Mika Kai was an amazing place to stay at. It is away from all the tourist areas and is an incredible place to spend time at. It was extremely clean and the property managers helped me set up to surprise my fiancé for her birthday prior to our arrival. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a place to stay on the Big Island!!!

Also, closeby is the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo features over 80 species of animals and is the only natural tropical rainforest zoo in the United States. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is thirty minutes away by car. There are so many things to see and do on the Big Island and Keaau is a wonderful place to start from.
